Barbara Anne Parker

Miss Parker died Thursday, November 6, 2008. Born in Gastonia, she was the daughter of Charles Eugene Parker and the late Carolyn Rhyne Parker. A graduate of North Mecklenburg High School in Huntersville, N.C., she earned an Associate’s degree from Wingate College in Wingate, N.C., and a Bachelor’s degree from the North Carolina School of the Arts, School of Music, in clarinet. Her interest in technology, particularly phone and date systems, led to additional study and a career in telecommunications design and project management for construction projects. In 2001 she started a new telecom consulting company in the Columbia area where she worked enthusiastically until her diagnosis of brain cancer in December 2006.
Miss Parker was a member of Washington Street United Methodist Church.
Surviving loved ones include life partner, Marianne Rose of Chapin; father and step-mother, Gene and Eloise Parker of Mt. Holly, N.C.; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Karen Parker of Huntersville, N.C.; nephew, David Parker; niece, Amy Parker; step-brothers Mike Owens and Jack Owens; and step-sister Carol Dees. Barbara was predeceased by lifelong friend, Susan Rogers.
